Yeah I agree if people don't care about safety they wont care about any video or lecture let alone a camera looking at them. Guess you can just cover the cam when it's your off duty time.

So people actually drive for companies that install Drive Cams in their trucks? You know if you're butt naked in sleeper and rock the cab too hard it will go off and record you right?

I'm surprised safety hasn't questioned you about it. -

First few days at the academy you will be doing classroom stuff and prepping for the permit tests. You will have homework every night you are there. The second week consists of many, many hours on the backing range. Actual road driving is pretty limited, and I don't agree with that; it should be longer. You are 4 to a truck with your road instructor, so depending on how fast people catch on rules how much actual seat time you get. Rooms at the dorm vary from 1-man to 5-man. I got a 1-man room. Do things their way and time will fly. Same goes with your trainer. I did the whole 6 weeks with 1 trainer but many people don't, for whatever reason.
FFE is what it is; it is a starter company. I left after 6 months for greener pastures, but I also had 7 years of class b tanker experience. I still keep in contact with my road instructor and my trainer. As far as the camera, I left before they started installing them, but my trainer says while it records 24/7, the footage only gets triggered by hard braking, hitting the kingpin too hard, accident, etc. Then (I think he said) the prior 5 seconds and after goes to a company in California, who then review it and send it to safety. So don't worry about it recording you in the sleeper. Well, I guess if someone backed into you at a truck stop? I don't know.JimsK Thanks this.
