Well...we aren’t off to a very good start...

Mentor was supposed to call today between 7-8 to arrange a pickup time. No call by 10 am so I shot him a message.

Evidently he’s got some “problems he needs to handle downtown” and we should leave tomorrow...

Don’t know what that means...but not a very good start...

tsk. You will hear all about it from his nibs the first 4 hours of your new acquaintance.

He gets one last chance before I demand a new mentor. Unlike him I don’t have time to play around. He didn’t call like he was supposed to. Issues supposedly occurred Sunday, so he had ample time to warn me. I don’t have time or the luxury of patience to play games.

Oh it’s documented. I’m giving him a little slack because I get it, stuff does happen sometimes, but the no communication is unacceptable.

Get a big lined journal book, preferably from one of those Christian book shops. They build the best legal size many pages and lined to write on everything.

DOCUMENT this problem with Trainer. I see economic losses already.

I am very pleased and respect you for being motivated and not a sloppy foaming at the mouth student who wont do anything.

Keep that journal and document anything that comes up from the trip number all the way through to the bitter end whatever that is. Your company expects you to be like everyone else never documenting anything in copies and writing. So when they put you in the office to question you about say a late load or a late trainer you sit there going uh, dunno, who? What? I forget etc. But when you carry that book in with the actual writing with all facts you can start telling them the exact story as it happened. Chances are they already know.

Documenting anything negative on your end is going to be the one thing that will save you many times and many even get a check out of it if the company forgot to include a trip number you were expecting to be paid on.

Whenever things get tough/crazy come back and read your post, again and again. It's all worth it if you want it to be! Good luck and safe travels!

Stay out 5 years save everything and buy a house outright. Hopefully one for the each of you.

Just keep in mind as the years roll, life sometimes does things you might not have thought of.

Well it turned out to be a blessing in disguise that my mentor was unavailable today. I got an interesting medical test result back that needs a sleep study, so they were able to squeeze me in tonight.

    Nothing too serious!

Test ends at 5am, I’ll be in the truck by 530 driving to Perrysburg, OH then down to Georgia!
