Good question! I don't know what drivers can expect because I haven't been out there. But, based on what I've read, I think that companies with "less than desirable" scores have 2 options. You can imagine what those 2 options are. I do believe, however, that carriers that have good scores, that have good safety programs and that have been carefully screening new hires all along will not feel any affect....why should they? The drivers, on the other hand (company, L/Os and O/Os), who have "less than desirable" records will feel the effect, regardless of which carrier they are driving for.

when you work for a company with a bad rating, you dont get prepass and you get red lights at scales for level 3 inspections lots and lots and lots and lots. That's all.

Not only at scales . The diesel cops sitting in the median will jump out and get you too . They run your DOT number as you go by .

Rick, how easy is it, in actual practice, for LEOs to "target" drivers? I understand the running DOT number deal, but how else might "targeting" be accomplished?

You also get a bunch of grief from the company for every little thing as they push to get those ratings up. They took my trainer off the program because I got an OOS for a trailer flat that was fine 100 miles earlier when I checked it at a RA. It's all about the numbers.

Oldnewbie... it's easy to get the big companies. Their trucks are usually pretty recognizable. CRST comes in it's own shade of gold, for instance.

Anyone know just how ofter those with a high rating - over 74 - do actually get pulled around back when crossing a scale?

I was in a TN scalehouse while the only officer there was checking my paperwork on a level 2 and watched 2 Western Express trucks roll across the scale with INSPECT in big red letters on the screen he had his back to .

Sometimes they watch for nice clean trucks they won't get dirty inspecting . Expedite straight trucks make an easy inspection .
