Well your local trainer might work nights, no guarantee that you will drive during the day. As far as hometown you can do Regional and be home every weekend or at most every two Weeks.
I am sure if you look around you might find a local position around there. I don't live there so I don't know much about local driving in that area.

Yeah a lot less backing. You will come in as experienced so 800 after taxes should be no problem.

Another thing Sammy. Gary is kind of the place where bulk intermodal is set to take off so you could get into the ground floor of that. You would have over six months experience by next June and local positions become available pretty regularly, they send a message over the Qualcomm. I bet you could get one. Just keep your record clean.

Well that's just the thing nobody knows how it's going to work. Are they going to have system drivers pick it up or is there going to be another division. Nobody knows right now but if you have done winter training already then you know it was heavily intermodal related. They are gearing up for a big push, we just don't know how.
I am hoping that either local drivers or a new division takes care of it because I hate the railyards.

But you know how these things go. If they open a new division they will start asking for volunteers.

As far as home time goes for tanker drivers, is the 6 days off a month the only option for new drivers after training with Schneider?

I've been reading your post as well as dfo's and atrucker. I'm a student and have been in constant contact with SNI before school and during. I'll have my tanker and hazmat endorsements and I'm slickly doing truck driving school to drive tanker for SNI. Tomorrow we have a recruiter from SNI (whom I ask could come and talk with us ) so I'm really stoked. So thank you guys for honest scenarios about trucking. And thank you for your service marine as I'm a navy veteran myself !
