ok I got a guy that wants me to haul 2 45 foot trailers (lightly loaded) from scotsbluff nebraska to san antonio texas.
I found two truck that need to go to texas, the guy (a dealer) will let me use them with his tags and insurance, all i have to pay is the fuel as long as i take them to port in houston
i figured that if my guy pays for fuel, which i have figured at 6.5 mpg at 2.80/ gallon (its 2.60 here, but i bumped it up to 2.80)- im trying to figure general averages here.
im not sure about how fuel tax would be covered in this situation, so if somebody could help me out there it would be great.
i was figuring on going from nebraska through colorado, little bit of oklahoma and then right down through amarillo till I hit I-10.
it would be a total of 1500 miles, I was gonna charge a lowly .20 a mile(yes i know its cheap labor but i need the miles and a good reference to put onto my resume) which would land 300 into my pocket for each trip (he will buy a plane ticket to fly me back to get the next truck)
what else am i forgetting?
what to remember?

Taxes, Logs, and BOLs. Better hide your paper trail.

logs are no problem, and im not planning on running illegally.
what would be the proper/best way to set up the BOL? of of what im transfering is a trailer and some wood that is in it to a new owner. would I need to get the bill of lading from the owner, or from floyds freightliner where the trailers are at? I would assume it would be from the dealer that i am picking the trailers up from. -
I got to thinking and this would probably be better under "ask an O/O" forum,
since the dealer that im getting the trucks from said "all that I would need to do is buy the fuel" I asked for sure about tags and insurance, but should I make it clear about needing the ifta permit (and anything else you can think of), also since i am transporting the truck, would I need a bill of lading for it as well? im gonna meet with the guy from western tommorrow about the trucks and want to be prepared. -
If you were just moving power units to Tx, you would be OK. But, pulling trailers for payment and without authority might present a problem. Co. is pretty strict at the port. If you had to buy some kind of permit, could you do it?
