The dark purple de-icer wash is the most effective I've found but it has it's limits as well. The regular blue wash sucks. Every winter I tell myself I'm going to try some heated wipers next year, and here I am winter upon me and still no heated blades. Guess it's manageable without them.
Be careful of blasting the defroster on a very cold windshield as any stone chips will soon be huge cracks.
what to spray on my windshield when frozen

Bob- I have had heated blades and they work great. The only thing when plowing long hours; like other blades, they don't last long, when following other plows kicking up sand and other crap. The chemicals do a number on wipers. Mike

Pour a little rubbing alcohol in your windshield washer reservoir.

Winter wiper blades help......until the cover springs a leak and water and ice build up on the inside and freeze the joints and render the blade useless.
