What truck ( make, engine, trans etc..) and trailer set up would you buy and why? We are looking at regrouping and adding to the fleet and wondering what would be a decent used truck to buy. Looking into buying another RGN and making some local contacts as well as some otr work. Would it make more sense to get a dove tail trailer or a RGN? Just looking for some good ideas and choices.

if it were me i would get a KW 18sd and the RGN,if it's heavy haul you're looking to do it would be a 3 axle RGN with 4th axle flip and either a jeep or 4 axle tractor.

Trailer type depends upon what sort of stuff you plan on hauling....and until you figure that out, nobody here is going to be able to help. Truck specs are the same. Ask 100 drivers what they want from a truck, and you'll get 100 different responses. If you are going to pull heavy loads or work in hilly terrain, you are going to spec it different than if you are running legal loads in the flat lands. If you tend to find yourself off the pavement making pickups and deliveries at job sites with soft or sloppy conditions, you are going to come up with different specs than if you stick to the pavement. The driver also is going to be a factor. I'd spec something I intend to drive myself to suit my own driving preferences....but if I were going to hire somebody else to drive my truck, I'd be more concerned with it's resistance to abuse and what it costs to fix if they DO tear it up.

As a company either some Pete's or Volvo 780s. As far as trailers I look for duraplate a lot cleaner, and side walls can't be ripped apart by forklifts, and a lot of brokers like it especially if you haul soda cans etc.

We're looking to stay in texas and surrounding and something hauling equipment/ heavy haul. Truck we are looking for something that has some power but not more then what we need and that's priced decent. Didn't know if a step deck with ramps or rgn would work well over all.

We found a 06 t600 with c-15 and a 10 or 13 speed with 800k for 24k. Is it to much? To many miles?

800k think about it... u can end up with a lemon or it can run another 800k
If it was up to me I wouldn't even put it into consideration

my truck is a 07 t600 13sd with c15 Good truck i like it,not so good pulling hills heavy, probably ok in Texas not to many big hills there.3 axle step deck would be a possible trailer give you a little flexibility over the RGN. We paid around 35k for my truck with 224k miles. If you can get any history on that truck and get oil samples from axles and engine,it may make a good starting truck.

Only you can decide what trailer would be best for you. A step with ramps or a beaver tail can haul some of the same things a rgn can, and it can also haul some things a rgn can't, samething with the rgn, there is things it can haul that a step cannot. And any brand of truck with any spec can do the job, some might have advantages over the others. I know a guy in Texas that stays in Texas and Oklahoma pulling an rgn, he stays very busy and makes alot of money doing it.
