Again you have no idea how batteries work if you think you get the same out of that battery vs a lithium battery. A lithium battery can run all the way down and still work fine. Your battery cannot and can only go to about 40 percent and then shuts off. Not the same available usage.
What truck batteries do you use and how long do they last?

The Lithium battery is anything but made in the USA or with USA materials and 2X the cost. So the point is if you want to support the Chinese then don’t complain when you aren’t willing to haul cheap freight while others are.
With the Bluetooth technology there is no reason to run a battery to zero charge so why pay the extra cost? Seems to me if you are that educated on batteries you would look after them better than that. -
If we made more stuff in the USA I would not buy anything else. The problem is being fixed right now but will never be good enough to buy 100 percent USA. So your point of buying a battery from China and cheap freight is pretty weak. I buy more Made in the USA stuff and shop at most Mom and Pop places and eat at most Mom and Pop places every chance I get. But I also use every tool that is needed to not waste every minute of my time on stuff on the internet that I need and on the road but need to get it. So Amazon which is one of the worst for USA in my eyes I use for stuff. That would be way more of an issue with providing freight for the cheap 1 mile club.KDHCryo Thanks this. -
Odyssey AGM ODX group 31's are $590 now....
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002498NR...=&crid=36YFYIR0JJJLJ&sprefix=odyssey+agm&th=1
Compared to a BMS equipped Litime Group 31 with bms and 10x cycle life, plus able to discharge down to 5% vs 40%...
Here is there new model at 150AH in the same footprint, not suitable for starting, but great for EPU's.. at $238 free shipping.

AGM, lead acid is great for company drivers who turn the key and call roadside when it doesn't go anymore. But O/OPs and businessmen who own their equipment and are looking for everyway to improve their bottom line, should really consider Lithium.
I know this year alone it has saved me almost 200 hours of idle time. That's 200 gallons of diesel, at $3 per gallon, that's $600. Plus whatever emissions cost benefits that I have saved, 'cause a NOX sensor is running about $500 now from the dealer. Plus Idle time on the motor. $$$
The 400 LBS of weight savings, allow me to add another 50 gallons of diesel, which also gets me to next the lower priced fuel stops. I'm a tanker and always 79.5 gross, so before the batteries I always used to have to play with how much fuel I have so I don't over gross.
So, as a businessman, I save minimum $1500 a year. That's significant in my one O/OP business plan. -
The Lithium you provided the link to is not a starting battery and the cost reflects it. Certainly appreciate you pointing that out as well but we are discussing starting batteries.
Appreciate the discussion but request we continue to keep it civil, its ok to have a difference of opinion. It doesn't make any of us idiots or any other term you want to use.
On the Ionic battery, it looks like the warranty is now reduced from the 10 to 5 years, good news is it does remain a full replacement and not pro-rated. That is the same condition as the Terra Supreme Battery. I did do some homework and the Terra Supreme Battery is currently priced at $495 with volume discounts available. On Amazon the Ionic Lithium battery is $899......can you find it elsewhere cheaper? Probably, so that is the high number.
The Ionic battery is roughly half of the weight. The Bluetooth technology that is available is similar on both batteries....my guess is that a 3rd party company has sold this capability to all of the battery manufacturers if they want it.
While some may not have any issues with the Lithium in cold conditions, it is a fact that Lithium will struggle in those conditions.
The Ahr are higher on the Terra Supreme Battery.....105 vs 100 while the CCA's are higher on the Ionic....1200 vs 1800 but the peak CCA's are the same at 3000.
If I am being honest, what I need to understand further is the depth of discharge comparing the batteries as there are no standards out there and everyone uses different cycles at different %'s to make their battery appear to be superior. -
Spent some more time this morning doing some research and wanted to go back to the statement that the Lithium Batteries can be fully discharged and recover. AGM's can also be fully discharged and recover, however, for both batteries there is a process to recharge to avoid destroying the battery that essentially is a slow charge. But I dont see any advantage for recharging a fully discharged battery for either a Lithium or AGM battery.
Peeling the onion back further reveals that ALL warranties are voided if you allow either battery to fall below 10.5V, which is essentially the industry standard at which point the battery is considered "dead". -
Lithiums have a BMS which will turn itself off at low voltage. Doing this repeatedly will not damage the battery or void the warranty.
You'll never get NEARLY as many cycles out of an AGM as a lithium. Nowhere near.
I'm not a proponent (yet) of lithiums for starting batteries but I've been using them in APU's etc. for years now and they are great, even the cheap ones from Amazon or wherever.
I wouldn't pay nearly as much for them as the one's you've linked though. My O'reilley Auto Parts ones are in their 3rd year doing fine. paid about $240 per for them. they are DEKA/East Penn so made in America but who knows about the components. Don't know, don't care.
Life is way too short to chase that stuff down. -
Lithiums are not special with respect to being to turn itself off at low voltage. The same technology is available to any battery, including the Terra Supreme AGM battery.
The Terra Supreme Battery is built differently than traditional AGM's and will in fact provide as many if not more cycles than Lithium batteries. Neither will provide rating of life cycles because it is a mute point. -
The reality you live in and the reality I live in seem to be quite different.
I'm out.Siinman Thanks this.
