The local stuff pays better per mile, usually $4 and up. Should be in the $1m ballpark.

Find a farmer, drive for him a couple of years then after you get some trust with him. Buy the truck you been driving for him or if your never leaving him. See if you can talk him in to co signing on with you but drive for him. If your not afraid to get your hands get a older truck that you can work on. You will learn more about trucking that way and farmers have vary of stuff to haul. Like grain, Hay, livestock, milk so on. It will help you trying to figure out what you want to pull. I'm 18 and I have a 1982 Mack Superliner got 2.5 Million miles with just a crank done to it. I haul for my family farm and farmers around. Hope this helped

Get a white one, they are the most common color, so they have good resale value. The grey and blue interior is also a good choice. Aluminum wheels are good and Power windows.

Drive for a company and get a feel of it for a few years man. Don't just get your own truck and get rich yet.

You gotta love all the hate in here man, I certainly do it motivates me more. He asked you opinion about whats a good truck to buy. If he wanted to ask should I buy a truck with little experience he would say it that way. If he wanted to know is it high risk he would say that.
Just because you were raped by a company and drove 10 years for somebody else before you bought your first truck, or you were broke, or didnt have the balls to buy with months experience, or you just failed in any other way it doesnt mean somebody else cant make it. Better wrong than sorry my friend. Better fail and try something else than cry at 50years old without trying like half the people here.I bet 90% can make it if they can be mentored by experienced driver. I would give you an answer but dont have to much experience. Hard to learn from old farts that just judge you instead of showing you the way so you make it easier and faster.
The negativity spreads all over the forum so ask yourself why you are not doing good or it took you decades to make it.
Good luck to you man God bless youRaRa Thanks this.
