Bro, the only truck you should be a fan of is the one that is DOT road ready. You should go company first. Learn the industry, learn about trucks, then 5 years or so later, venture out. One thing is that these trucks that are out on the road, I'm talking about EGR, DEF, Regen cycle type trucks, there really isn't a difference. They are highly reliant on computer systems and sensors. I've seen every brand of truck on the back of a tow truck.

Freightliner.... interchangeable parts, and you don't always have to tell on the dealer to get parts. Fuel efficient, light, reliable

No hate here, good advice to save someone's *****.

The problem with your comment is the assumption some of us are bashing the op, but the truth is most fail to make it because thet are unprepared. It is a lack of experience or a lack of money or both, all while chasing pennies to keep afloat which screws all of us up in the long run.

The best thing to do is tell the truth, to make sure that the person with the bright ideas that we all seen before what will work and what will not.

This is a business, not a hobby or something to dabble in but a multi billion dollar business where there is a lot of back stabbing and stealing going on. It is also a very dangerous business where people actually die doing it, and still all people see is the money, they think that it is easy and we all need to help everyone out to get into it when we can't help our own selves.

Very well said. Don’t understand all the negativity. I bought a Freightliner Columbia in 2013 after 3 weeks with Swift. Lease onto a company for 6 months and then got my own authority. I haven’t looked back. I’m not a millionaire but have made a decent living. It can be done.

And whats the rule "Dont try if you have less than 1 year experience, you gonna fail" :D

Ridgeline, I respect you I certainly can see with your writing and other posts that you are older guy with years of experience.
But we, the guys who are just starting, come here to this site to learn from people like you. We come here to see what mistakes you made and hopefully dont make the same. We know that there is a lot of things that you cant rely on somebody elses experience specially the driving and running the numbers but you come you learn and you do it better. We dont come here for someone to tell us you cant make it and make fun of him to buy red truck.
Hope to learn from you and guys who already did it and we all make a good living. The pie is big and there is piece for everybody.

“The pie is big enough for everyone”

    Trucking company % is higher.

Most people don’t know how/what it takes to run a successful businiess. The numbers don’t lie.

The pie is big enough; but most don’t know what to do with it and #### it up badly for those that do. That’s the error in the “enough for everybody” logic.

When you see a post asking a question and the OP is getting gang banged about failure: it’s bc people that have a clue can see right thru and know what’s happening.

Someone who is likely/very likely to succeed asks very different questions than the majority, who will fail.

@Ruthless I really belive that business success is 99% relied on the person running it. So nobody questioned that. Im just against the people who are discouraging other people not to even try.
In the end I will go, try and if I fail eat some humble pie and see whats up. And if you think someone is bsing just ignore it and thats it. There are plenty of us here to stay and to learn from the experience. Just saying dont make it harder on all the people. I checked the thread looking for answers myself also, and came across people "bulling" this guy.
I dont care about statistic and how many businesses fail. If I know what Im doing and learning and adjusting in a better pace than everybody than there is no statistic or person that can tell me if Im gonna fail or not.
P.S. Dont belive anything on the internet just because there is a picture and a quote next to it people. ;)
