What truck stops do you avoid? Location and name?

Only those with the fancy silk cowboy hats.

 

Basically any of the big chain stops suck nowadays. They're all overcrowded and overpriced because they have a captive audience of company drivers who are told to fuel at those places, so that's where they have their points and free showers so that's where they usually end up at for the night. I mostly hated those places even as a new guy over a decade ago and now it's nothing but worse.

 

Or the J on the other side of the freeway

 

Thats why I would sneak in during the afternoon, perfect time to get a shower and fuel. No issues with parking. Then I would bounce and find another spot for the night and leave the mega carriers to the truck stops

 

#1. on my list would be Loves, never ever been to a loves Gas station/ truck stop that I liked, #2, would be TA as they charge like an angry Rhino, on the other hand my favorites were always, Flying J before Pilot took over that is, the exception being Flying J/ Pilot on the I- 40 in Phoenix AZ, Flying J/ Pilot, I - 70 Denver CO, and Flying J Pilot Seattle WA. would avoid those places due to the lack of parking space.

 

The J was good at most locations before Peelot took over. Phoenix, Denver and Seattle were always dumps
