our O/O rgn which is only a 40 ton rated with an extra axle was $80,000. its a baby trailer in terms of Heavy haul. A long ways from a brand new $30k flatbed. plus youll need to convert your trucks frame to have rails (also called ramps) to be able to even unhook the neck. how long will your drive axles last with 40k on them while pulling 95k down the interstate.

oh and you can forget that 100k cargo insurance , how much will you pay for 250k cargo...

I am really not trying to be negative but if your on your own dont get caught up in the "big Money". once you figure out that the HH overhead is much much more its not so get rich and do nothing.

If you are on your own maybe you should try doing what you do better than anyone else. Or go work for some company and slowly, slowly learn the ropes of the HH.

Or heck go buy a $250,000 cozad 3+3+2 and start making the real big money.....(insert sarcasm)

Well, I kinda gave up on this place to be honest, but popped in for a looksie...

OP, go out right now and buy a nice shiny 4 axle RGN. Your truck will be fine with it. Those heavy haul guys that spend $200k on a 4 axle truck are wasting their money and just want to look cool. A nice little truck with a 12k lb front end, and @36k lb rear ends will do great. Dont forget fuel mileage, so a straight 10 speed and 2.64's are a must.
Your current (I'd guess) 5/16" chains and snap binders will be great, may need to buy one or two more though.
Ramps are for babies, just keep backing up, you'll pick it up eventually.
Permits are over rated. Just run with it, scales never check for permits anyways.
And dont bother with pilot cars. Waste of money and the cops wont notice.
Besides that, just do it and drive the rates down further. Them guys that have been doing it for 20+yrs are just getting rich and being greedy. Go get a piece of that pie, preferably with an ex Schneider/JB Hunt/Swift truck, and make a fortune.

Got a 14 wide from Ky to Calexico mate. Ar screwed the pooch on permits, waiting for a restriction to end to save 197 additional miles.
So been dealing with bimbo's (pilots) with no brain, and so on.
Be at the old T/S at ext 5 in NM this weekend, if that tells you anything....

Too late. they screwed us on permits. They were waiting on the DOT to email the permit 'tards to say the restriction had "officially" been lifted. Got to Denmark,Tn at 0930 Tuesday morning, didn't get Ar permits until @1600 Tuesday, just in time for curfew etc. Left yesterday @0815.
Went into Ar on I55, then US70, Ar118, US64, US167,440,30, then a detour through Arkadelphia on US67, then down to Ar51 and back onto 30

Hoping to get a roof top ac unit mounted and honda gen. put on later next week..

You know us H.H. guys have deep pockets so I might get the units chrome plated...

I had a pilot car driver that must be the twin sister to who you have. missed several turns.
I even gave her a copy of the permit...
Glad I only had her for Ok..
