Wear what's comfortable for you, they're your feet. Personally, I wear a nice Reebok leather walking shoe. Never been kicked off a dock, or out of a yard for them. They're comfortable, look good, non slip, etc.
I agree on the steel toes in extreme climate conditions. When those steel toes get cold, THEY STAY COLD! And I find it annoying to drive in steel toe'd shoes.

    But that's my opinion....

When I was OTR, I wore a pair of comfy tennis shoes for extended periods of driving.
When I went into customers and did anything around the truck, I switched to a pair of quality steel-toed boots with non-slip soles and good traction.
I also bought a cheap set of tennis shoes from Wal-Mart that I called "truckstop shoes" which I only wore around truckstops, fuel islands, repair bays, etc.
Reason being is that they would get soaked with oil and diesel fuel and all kinds of other nasty stuff and I didn't want to track all that inside my truck.

I know...and you make a valid, logical, and good point, sometimes I'm just lazy. nobody should ever listen to any advice I have about shoes, and/or clothing. :biggrin_25515:

i use regular work boots because of the added ankle protection. they also help when you have to kick a stubborn roll-up door. once you have something fall on your foot or your ankle you'll be glad you had boots. also helps in cold weather. lucky i had my boots on one summer when a #### schnouzer came darting out from someone's backyard and bee lined right for my ankle... he bit my ankle but didn't penetrate and i didn't feel a thing .... those #### snouzers are aggressive !

Depends on how fat you are.

Some people can't bend over to tie laces.

I have a pair of nike athletic type shoe, a few pairs of converse, one pair of dc skate shoes that i wear most of the time, and red wings steel toe boots. I have flip flops too but for shower only. The only ones that I haven't worn yet are my boots, but i have them just in case.
