Something that nobody mentioned about sneakers is the tread. Try to find something with a very tight tread. Turn the shoe over and bend the sole. If it bends along the line made by the tread don't buy it. It will break there in a short amount of time.

Reviving an old post, but one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes I've had so far was a pair of Die-Hard steel toe sneakers I got for Christmas in '11. I was working in a warehouse and had a pallet fall on my foot one day while wearing some Wal-mart running shoes. Last time I wore those lol. Funny thing was, I knew better than to wear them in the first place, but they were light and had good air flow in a 100* warehouse. But the Die-Hard's were just as light or lighter, and super comfortable.

I also have a pair of Snap-on boots for really nasty situations. They have lasted me over 12 years now through auto repair jobs, construction work and working in a machine shop. Only reason I didn't wear them in the warehouse was because my job had me orderfilling for Walmart stores and I was running pretty much all day. Not easy to do in high top steel toe boots.

Now, I will be starting my driving career on the 16th and have been looking for a good all around shoe, and I think I might go back to the Die-Hard's. But until then, it'll be my DC's for driving and stops, and my Snap-ons for any loading/unloading/warehouse/repair shop visits, and some flip flops for the showers.

What are "these"? Manufacturer or other info would be helpful. Thanks.

    I wear these:

Granted... I drive a bulk tanker.

I like em. I've always worn boots though so maybe I'm used to it...

One thing to remember, "lugged" boots MAY get caught in the cat walk. IF you drag your feet. I've not had a problem with em.

Of course, a more "comfortable" shoe would probably be something light and with a sensitive sole. Something like a race car driver would wear.
But WE are not allowed to wear anything but boots.

I don't think it's the boot, but the foot. Try some athletes foot powder and maybe you won't have to replace perfectly good leather boots every 6 months.

It all depends on what you are doing. Dot don't give a rip what you wear while driving. I drive bare foot all the time. Been DOTed many times.

If you are doing something that might cause issues while loading and unloading then by all means wear the proper foot wear. If you just stand there and watch someone unload your truck or ,like me, stand there and watch the belt run while the spuds come out the back, then a tennis shoe will do the trick.

When I get in the truck, my shoes don't even get to the mat on the drivers side, They come off and sit on a rug between the seat and the door. Any further then the crap that gets tracked in on the bottom of my shoes will end up in the bunk area and I hate dirt in the bunk area. It some how ends up in the bed, no matter how much your try to brush it off your feet.
