Evenin Drivers Just want to know what type of freight pays the best. I'm having a tough time deciding on Hopper, Tanker, or Pnuematics? I live in Pa. and i'm looking at starting my own business in 2016 and just really want to make a wise decision on what type of trailers should I haul. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

That would depend on if you're wanting to haul direct for your own customers or leasing to somebody else. If the former, then you'd have to have the proper type of equipment to service the prospective shippers in your area.

Thats basically what i'm trying to figure out. I'm wanting to know what's the best route to take based off the experience of other owner operators. If I did go the direct freight route with my own authority what would be my best option in terms of (freight to haul) living in the northeast? or if leased onto a company what companies would be reccommended that has the best opportunities for success for new o/o?

I don't have a handle on stuff in and out of the NE, but be aware that any kind of tank means more expense than flats or boxes

If he has a single bore top fill bottom dump tanker. There's not much more expense. But they are hard on transmissions.

With rates the way they are. This isn't a good time for any new o/o to be starting up.

What part of pa? if your in northeast pa check out Nealon Transportation right across border in Conklin ny off exit 1 on I81. Small company about 60% are owner ops. My dad and his buddy were the 1st few drivers he hired back in late 80s. Jerry Derrick the owner is a good guy and pays a fair rate. Flats and dry van, my uncle has his own auth. doing on avg 3k-3200 after fuel pulling a nealon trailer and home every night mostly

used to run steel from Canron before Ocean Steel took over, part of local 282. Did work on Chrysler building, jfk airport, the old Giants stadium, and a ton of other buildings around midtown. A lot of the modern skyline was brought down on Nealon trailers and canron steel

I know its not tanker work but its worth looking into. One of the few Good guys still out there
