I am strongly considering getting in to liquid hazmat tanker OTR driving. I already have the tanker endorsement and the hazmat endorsement. I am curious as to what types of liquid hazmat are hauled across the country. I suspect that diesel and gasoline are typically hauled less than 200 miles because I think that there are almost always oil refineries within 200 miles of any location. I believe that crude oil is usually transported in pipelines. So I don't think that many trucks are hauling crude oil long distances from the drilling locations to oil refineries.
So what types of liquid hazmat are typically hauled by semi-trucks pulling liquid tankers on distances of, say, 500 miles or more?
What types of liquid hazmat are hauled cross-country?

You actually got some pretty good answers to that qtn in this earlier thread:
How common or rare are OTR tanker jobs?---Key part: OTR | TruckersReport.com Trucking Forum | #1 CDL Truck Driver Message Board (thetruckersreport.com)

If you are thinking about doing OTR with hazmat tanker....I suggest you go ahead, and give it a try (unless your current gig is just too super-sweet).
If you don't....later on, you will look back, and wonder...what might have been.
The freight is certainly there....that's for sure.

A tanker isn’t the only way to haul liquid.

I’ve done a few of those loads and found out really quick why the tanker endorsement is needed.. Not my favorite product to haul!Just passing by, Numb and MACK E-6 Thank this.

4 or more of those on a trailer is enough for them to start reminding you they’re back there with the surge.

No I didnt. One guy mentioned that he hauls lubricants cross country, and that was the only thing germane to this thread in that thread.

"lubricants, Shell, Valvoline, BP, etc to oil distributors and auto/machinery manufacturers"
"lots of bulk commodities travel long distances"
"We haul AvGas all over the south east"

Yeah. I mentioned that the thread mentioned lubricants.
Well, what types of bulk commodities that are liquid hazmat travel long distances other than lubricants?
What is AvGas? Is AvGas gasoline or what?
The OP of this thread is still largely unanswered. -
I worked for Quality Carriers out of Nashville. We pulled loads for one dedicated customer, various phospheric acids. I went to each area of the country. We had a regular load that wrnt from Nashville to San Francisco and came back empty. Ditto for Bangor, ME.
