too easy to use it more than once a week.

The month of July is going to be a blast. They'll be checking logbooks like crazy.
MNdriver Thanks this. -
The bottom line is that not enough truck drivers are getting involved in the process and letting bureaucrats dictate your lives. Call your senators and congressmen. It's only going to get worse from here if we continue to let them stack rules on top of rules.
driverdriver, landstar8891, RockinChair and 1 other person Thank this. -

I have #####ed to anyone that would listen and a few that haven't. Unfortunately not knowing the political process and not able to afford a hired gun It's to no avail. I do have a question though I drive exclusivly at night. The reset requires two periods with 1 to 5 am off this is backwards for me. Is there anything that says it can be pm?

The 2 periods of 1 AM to 5 AM makes sense if you are a daylight working driver. BUT if you are consistently a night worker or driver, it is the exact opposite of what your system wants/needs, and is actually bad for your circadian rhythm. Once again the Federal government is trying to ram a one rules fits all to the very diverse trucking industry.
RockinChair Thanks this. -
And yet crashes from fatigue have dropped since then, yeah, this all makes sense now, LOL -
From my point of view the industry is fractured between company and non-company drivers with the company drivers split between union or union type work and non-union work. The non-company driver (small fleet and owner/operators) make up the majority who will be impacted by this rule change (limiting their load options and money) and are vocal to a point (OOIDA can do only so much) while the company drivers from the union or union type work won't be impacted anywhere near the level if at all so they won't get involved because there is no need to and the company non-union drivers will have to deal with it because they are controlled by the company directly and have no choice hence don't care to get involved.
It is sad to run into a company driver who refuses to contact their congressional representive or even vote while complaining about the conditions they have to drive under not realizing they are the reason why they have to put up with this.driverdriver Thanks this. -
So a few drivers fall asleep at the wheel and they punish all of us. What happened to personal responsibility. If I'm tired I pull over regardless of what my qualcome tells me. I say get rid of hours of service, but If you fall a sleep at the wheel and hit somthing you should loose your CDL for a month. Then people would self govern their hours a lot better because they don't want to loose their job for a month. Repeat offenders 6 months or a year.
