An update people! Unfortunately, I wont be able to start my CDL training as I dont have enough driving history with my PA state DL. Born here but moved to Europe with the family and just got back to the Homeland under a year ago. Too bad :(

So I guess I will have to move on and try to find a job in my field of studies... And maybe re apply when I meet the requirements.

Are there any driving (delivering?) jobs with no CDL?

    Drive safe all!

My brother in law was stationed at Cheyenne Mountain. He is career Air force and was a commander in charge of the security guards. I believe he was a Major at the time. I got to take a tour with him inside the mountain. Pretty wild place.

What part of PA? There are alot of companies that use small non-CDL box trucks to make deliveries. Check out the bread companies and chip companies websites(Wonder, Strhoman(sp), Herr's, Lays).

As for me; I was a Mafia hitman:wink: for five years(age 18-23), then went and started as a helper at a Allied agent and was learning to drive within two weeks.

I coached swim teams for 30 years. About 4 years ago I resigned from the team I coached for 23 years and won 2 national championships with. I have coached US National teams and run camps at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. I got a new boss whose style was a bit too micromanagement. He came very close to getting fired after I left. I decided to go into trucking rather than uproot my family and move. There are only 3 teams in my immediate area.

I have always been mechanically inclined and have enjoyed learning about trucks and tankers in general. The nice thing about this job is when I am home and off I am truly off. Managing a 250-300 member team always presented me with emails to answer, problems to solve and parents to deal with. 30 or so weekends spent at meets each year took a toll as well. I actually have more time at home on weekends when my wife and son are home driving OTR than I did coaching.

well as you can see by the pic there i was in the 727-100 flying cargo until that contract went away and ended up in the management side of air cargo for more than a decade. those contracts are going by the wayside now in favor of companies who are providing less service at a cheaper price......everyone in the industry is looking at pennies now instead of dollars....there just is NO future in the airplane business anymore.....i will find myself unemployed after 15 years in upper management with the same company on june 1st....so, time for the career change

I think the same may hold true in trucking. Well trucking has a future, just not sure making money in trucking has a future.
