Hello I'm starting a job with FedEx, and im a bit on the bigger side... So I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good reach pole or something for being able to reach the strap on the doors to pull them down.
What would be a good reach pole for Roll door trailers and pups.

Not familiar with roll up door trailers, would a 5th wheel puller be long enough to snag the strap with the hook on the end?

Roll up doors are nice when you ant gotta shut them... Just back that badboy into the dock, dont even gotta worry about opening doors.Bean Jr. Thanks this.

Broom handle with a hook on the end. They sell threaded addapters at most hardware places.
Otherwise a colapseable hook works well. Or a boathook.Flat Earth Trucker and Magoo1968 Thank this. -
5th wheel pin puller. The chrome ones with a hook facing 2 different directions are probably 4-5 feet long. Or you can just buy or make something for $10 from the hobby wood, PVC, or aluminum or steel threaded rod/bar stock from Lowes or Home Depot.Lav-25 and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this.

Dock hook. At my center most drivers grab one while getting straps. I think thats why some centers cable them to the dock.
If you are working for freight you need to get used to climbing into trailer from the ground. You will be doing it a few times a day.Last edited: May 29, 2022
