You hear stuff like this and some people still wonder why newbies are hesitant to spend time in a trainer's truck. Easy enough to just say keep an eye on your valuables, but dragging a laptop etc to dinner and into the showers everyday is going to get old real quick!.![]()
What would be the bare minimum of money you take with you...

Some places will not start your money UNTIL you are assigned to a truck. The company may pay for a meal during orientation, but that may be lunch only. If you are one of those picky types, where the trainer has to be male or female, smoker, non smoker...etc, you may have to sit and wait a few days after orientation ends. That means no more company lunches.
Some trainees think they are there to be coddled, and if the trainer is hard core, they come off the truck and wait for another trainer. Money stops. Anyways, the point is, the longer it takes you to go through the BS, the more money you will need. You know your personality and needs. The longer it takes you, the more money you will need.
"But Six, I can go to WalMart and buy groceries and..."
You are assuming. Do not assume anything. And when you get off the trainers truck, the money stops until you get assigned to your own truck. If there's no truck available, you may have to sit in a motel.
The problem with a lot of trainees, guys in particular, is they think they can get by showing up to orientation with $50. Even if you do the walmart thing, $50 isn't enough.
