I didn't hit anything with the trailer, and it wasn't like this when I shutdown on Friday. The tire has some dry rot in the same area of the sidewall all around the tire.![]()
What would cause a trailer tire to do this?

It may be the inner sidewall having a gash or dry rot like you mentioned and the air in the tire rush through the gash and after so long the pressure pushed through the sidewall and caused that. Also you can check the date of manufacture on the sidewall. It will show like 0506 which means it was made in May 2006

Sure looks like it was curbed.
Cetane+, loose_leafs, double yellow and 5 others Thank this. -
Don't recall ever curbing it, there aren't any indications on the sidewall that I curbed it abrasions and such.

Just spread a little peanut butter on the crack and it'll be fine.
Starboyjim and Mr Ed Thank this. -

I give you 100$ if you can slash a trucktire.
Better sharpen your knife,it has to cut steel threads. -

No it's still got air on it. It's the outer wall of the tire.
