Krazy in schools, movie theatres, post offices and such.
Not too much crazy going on in truck stops.
I understand your concern, however.
I recently bought a rifle for much the same reason.

I'm a big fan of knives. A simple pocket knife won't raise too many eyebrows. My current EDC is a spyderco manix2 blue, and I always put a zip tie on the hole for fast pocket deploy.
steerinwheelholder and truckon Thank this. -

There are no federal laws specifically prohibiting carrying a firearm in your truck. However, you will not be allowed to carry on any military installation. At one time, the base would hold your gun and you picked it up when you left the base. In fact, not too many years ago it wasn't even an issue. I think it was Jimmy Carter or Bill Clinton who made it illegal to carry on any military installation. It seems crazy to me to prohibit those who are commissioned to protect this country with lethal force to not be able to protect themselves. It also doesn't make any sense for citizens to be able to protect themselves in any state or municipality. Each state has different laws. Some reciprocate while others, such as New York or New Jersey do not. It is mostly the communist states that don't want honest citizens to protect themselves. As long as you don't tell anyone you are armed, you probably would not have an issue. New York, Massachusetts and New Jersey are some of the worst. Just check state laws where you will be running and act accordingly. You might still be able to check your weapon at some military bases, but I know a couple that used to allow you to check your weapons with them prior to entry will no longer allow you to go on the base with a weapon in your truck. Thank you Obama. I feel sooooo much safer. If you are concerned about your personal safety, just be aware of state laws. Unless you tell them you are armed or allow them to search your truck, it will not likely be an issue. If you cross the border into Canada, you better NOT have a gun in the truck. Major fines, impounding of your truck and jail time.
I really don't understand why so many people are so scared of guns. It makes absolutely NO sense. It was much different in the world in which I grew up. -
AModelCat Thanks this. -
I totaly agree that guns are #### on all the time by the idiots in the media. Society has a psycho problem, not a gun problem. -
According to what I have been told it is a $10,000 fine and jail time if we are caught with a gun in our truck while crossing into Canada. I did know one guy who's son got caught. He was arrested and his truck impounded. I don't recall if he actually went to prison or not. Canada was not happy with him.

Law is my first concern, the rest follows

If I were to use a firearm I'd have to hide the body too and then pretend it didn't happen... Sound's like so much fun
-
It's just figure of speech... if you pull it out to warn, there's a few options the person or persons your attempting to warn off will have.. One of them is reporting it to the authorities. Best be prepared
