It is not uncommon for an engine year of manufacture to not match the truck year. Truck model years in no way match the calender, the same as cars. If I remember correctly Cat cranked out a lot of engines during that time frame. If more engines were produced than trucks needing Cat engines those "left over" would be installed in the next model year truck. Cat computer engines were just coming onto the market. So there was still a strong demand for mechanical engines for those dreading the complications that come with new technology. Prior to the Oct. 2002 EPA requirement there was an excess of engines built because some consumers didn't want to deal with the next level of pollution bs. Truck manufacturers were allowed to use the pre-02 engines for a time after the Oct. '02 mandate went into effect.

Do you know how the speed limiter law will deal with these trucks?
-
If it has an ECM it will have to be speed limited. Not going to be too much longer before that rule becomes how reg. How many of you intend to be an outlaw with that one? They'll never limit the speed on my truck.
-
I don't know how you plan to get around it. Up here trucks have been taken OOS until an authorized shop sends someone to set the limiter. I was "lucky"....QC only took $475.00 and let me go with my '98 model. That's about the time I started looking for my 359.rollin coal Thanks this. -
Haven't looked at the rule for awhile, but it was written to include trucks by their production date, it would not apply to trucks already on the road.
rank Thanks this. -
What u want for the truck'???
-
kimbosa I don't really know what I might want for it. I have not driven a Cat since 2005 so I am having fun in it for the time being. I need to keep it until the o/o who's truck was totaled by a 4 wheeler can find a replacement. I hate to say this but I honestly think at 226" wb. with AG100 air ride the '95 rides better than my '93 at 262" and AG380 (Pete flexaire).
