LOL.
I've said it once, twice, now a 3rd time.
I know where a few are that are all broke up.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Did 11.2 mpg bobtail from Bemidji, MN to Palmetto, FL. Stopped in Strawn IL & put 10 new tires on her too.. Drives are deep 31/32nds closed shoulder. Set the cruise at 68mph the whole way down.
Then deadheaded back up to the same barn in IL to fix a water leak she had, & do some other repairs to make her ready to earn. Pulled my empty 48' step up at 66mph get'n 9.6..Rideandrepair and Oxbow Thank this. -
Open cell is better at noise insulation, closed cell is better at heat insulation. If you have ever torn apart the interior on old trucks you can see open cell would still do 20 times the job that they did from the factory at heat insulation. All the factories should be ashamed of the lack of insulation or really just how they put them togetherNostalgic and Rideandrepair Thank this.

The kit he used came in two containers and mixed together in the hose for shooting it with the included spray gun
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Like I said what most would balk at..
'95 FLD112 flat top
No roof faring, no tank skirts, no cab farings
Cummins M11 350e
Fuller "performance"
lol 9 speed
Eaton DS 404 rears, 3.70 ratio
Lightweight drums
Low pro 24.5 rubber
Best quarter of 7.36mpg running spot market stepdeck..
Needs rebuilt though, drinks 2 gallons 15w40 on a easy week.
A FLD120 with an 11.1 Series 60 would be even better fuel wise, but with a 12.7 would be the perfect truck imo..kros, earnies2, Rideandrepair and 2 others Thank this. -
This right here is my 1999 with a 12.7 detroit engine. I get 5.8-6.3mpg with the 48’ flatbed. I can scale at 30,500 lbs with a crapload of flatbed equipment. Trailer even has 3, 5ft boxes. I will keep this truck until I retire.
I spent about $80k on it. From purchase price, to rebuild, paint, tires, air compressor, all AC, etc., basically all the modifications.

It's slang for Pete 379, 389, Kenworth W900, Freightliner Classic XL, the rare Volvo 800 series, a couple others I can't remember. Coronado is kind of an evolution hood truck like the W990 or new Pete 589. The "aero" conventional trucks have hoods too but are not true hood trucks in the traditional sense but rather "curb sniffers". Cabovers are an outdated thing that haven't been popular in 30 years but a few guys still run "big iron" cabovers. The classic hood truck is still considered the pinnacle of cool. That classic long hood with the 6" loud pipes is what still turns the heads when you pull into the fuel island at 8pm on a warm summer night at Truck World in Hubbard or Iowa 80 in Wolcott or anywhere else where the hard core road warriors hang out.earnies2 and Rideandrepair Thank this.
