I don't think it's wise to translate the whole exchange rate quite yet, not all those costs have come through so far.
It just comes down to labor, fixed costs, variable costs and profit. Heavy loads like that are tougher on equipment, driving up maintenance, repairs and fuel. Short runs cost more in labor. I'd bump the quote up by the additional expenses in labor (short run), fuel, maintenance and "contingency" for the stuff you didn't think of. .04 LowMax Thanks this. -
To simplify my estimates to customers I base my rates on the simple formula, $1 per hour per $1000 of equipment cost (when new). So if you are using $200,000 worth of equipment the rate should be $200 per hour, minimum charge 10 hours. That would be a full retail price for a retail for customer, anything less would be a wholesale price.
That said, my price is easier to justify when fuel is at $1.35 CND per litre or $5.12 CND per US gallon, and trucks are scarce. Currently I am having to drop to $0.75 per $1000 of equipment cost ($150 per hour for $200,000 of equipment) to get work with my wholesale customers (customers who regularly use my services).04 LowMax Thanks this. -
I'd cut him a deal if you could do 1.5 turns in a day...
