Please reread post 27...particularly the last 6 words.

They write the ticket, you present proof of having been issued a valid CDL, case dismissed.

Do you mean they temporarily suspend...as they can't take something that you don't have in your possession.

Since when does not guilty ever enter into the DOT?

For the ticket comment, it is for say a speeding ticket in Illinois when the license is in your possession.

If the driver appears at the scheduled hearing with CDL and medical card in hand, s/he will be found not guilty. Therefore, no fines:biggrin_255:

Wow! You guys don't mess around when it comes to the regs. I appreciate all the homework you've done for me.:biggrin_25514:
Long story short... I deposited a check right before I left town and withdrew money I owed a friend. I ended up giving said friend the whole envelope not remembering the bank put my ID in it<DOH!>

Anyway, I'm having it mailed... I wont get it til Tuesday. I'll just have to hope for the best til then. I have my med card (including long form) SS card, bank card and various other things with my name on it but no photo ID.:biggrin_25513:

flip them off under the dash while waving hello over the dash...the old "Over and Under"!

I have been cut numerous breaks by the DOT, I cannot complain. It must be my good looks and sparkling personality!

A CDL holder WITHOUT his/her license in possesion while driving a CMV will be be cited. It is one of the 5 major violations a CMV operator does not want to get. Speeding 15 or over is one of them as is tailgating, illegal lane change etc. I cannot cite the origin of this, but do remember it from years back. I do not know if the driver will be cited and released or put out of service.

My neighbor has been driving several years. He got a ticket for 19 over last week.

He was on duty, in the company truck he said his fine was 24 dollars. This was in ND, he said if it had been in MN it would have been a couple hundred easy.

I asked him how were you over so much, he said it was a 55 and went thru a small rural town, limit dropped to 40 and he got nabbed.

Who here honestly believes a DOT bear will not shut you down for not having your license in your possession? Man, where's DieselBear when you need him? Just like a cop...never there until you don't want him....(Teasing, Mr. DB...Teasing!:biggrin_25522:)

It's a big deal to not have your license with you. Besides the long arm of the law, there are numerous shippers I've been to who want to photocopy your license before you can haul the load. It is an essential tool of our profession. Bet ya' won't let that slip by you again, OP and good thing you're getting it tomorrow.
