You should do videos on this. Then maybe YouTube would actually have something worth watching besides Trucking Girl and ripped Myth Busters episodes.
You'd probably get a lot of subscribers.
What would you do if you missed the low bridge sign?

If you drive locally in the NE and haven't at least tickled the underside of a rail overpass you're not trying hard enough!

The GPS started screaming about a low underpass one evening during rush hour and I had already passed all available turn-offs and couldn't do a u-turn because of a concrete wall in the median. I turned right into a large furniture store lot and devised this plan: I would do my10-hour break in the sleeper and then back down the shoulder at 3AM with flashers on to a street I could see about 1/4 mile back behind me. About that time I saw a couple other rigs roll under the bridge with no problem so i got my measuring tape out and tried to figure out wtf was going on. Turns out the owner of the truck had programmed an extra 6" of "insurance" height into his GPS. After measuring one more time I gritted my teeth and rolled under the bridge with no problem

Lol. I'm sure that would have been a real peaceful night of rest.

I've had cops help me in the past but I also keep traffic cones in the truck. Worst case scenario you can make yourself your own lane with traffic cones, back down it, move the cones, back down it, move the cones. Makes it a little less likely some ####### is going to crash into you. I've shut down side-streets with cones so I could park and just block the whole thing. Throw some cones at the end and people just take a different route in the city.

My first time out on my own to ne
Two low bridges , and truck restricted route with 2 bridges before I could exit ( the two bridges on restricted route were 13'6 ish... Went real slow til I could get to exit , no shoulder 15 in ct.) still had old sights up 12' and 11'10". Later that night pull to another bridge 12'10" I thought sighs don't really mean you can't fit. As I begin to try to creep under. Old guy pulls up and says ain't gonna make it, trucks get stuck here all the time. Very next delivery next day low bridge 12'10" I pull up to fourway stop none of other cars are going, I got erie feel ing they knew something I didn't. made left instead until could turn around.
After that I read every sighs, get in atlas when in doubt. -
There was one bridge here in town that was marked 13'4", and it was. A guy at Central Transport found out he could make that bridge with his single axle city tractor.
Until one day his tractor was in the shop, and he was driving a replacement.... -
could have been worse, semi hit bridge yesterday in michigan, bridge had to be demolished damge was so intensive. all the usa guy did is damage the faring on semi
-
I would just set landing gear disconnect and bobtail home.
LindaPV Thanks this.
