I'v been with Western Exp. Flatbed for four months now. I'v been happy with them but the pay sucks .27 a mile and $15 for tarp. I planned on staying for a year and then going to Jordan Carriers. But have a opportunity to go work for a smaller flatbed company called Royal in West Point,MS. It's about a 30 mile drive from my house. They get home every weekend and pay is better .39 a mile and $40 to tarp. But I don't know anything else about them. Never seen one of their trucks on the road or talked to any drivers. I don't want to go from job to job. I want to be at my next job for a long time. So should I stick it out at Western for a year and go to Jordan? Or go to a smaller company that I don't know anything about but make better money?
What would you do?

well how will the weekly miles compare to what miles you are getting this week
this week at the job you hold currently sorry for the mistake -
The grass is always greener!
You will most likely not make what you are making now. $.39 looks great on paper but not when your driving 800 miles a week! There is a reason they are paying that. If I were you I would try to talk with some of their drivers. If you only live 30 miles from them it shouldn't be that hard to find a driver to talk to. You may want to check out their stats too.

whoops never mind... -
They can tell me I'll get 3000 miles a week but it don't mean I will. Only a driver can tell me that.

well thats true i would just worry about loosing miles in the end, but with the pay increase it might average out although it would just have to be a leap of faith least now you know what miles you get, the company is good to you and in the end you have a goal to move anyways. Although you would be local and around my house all the locals usually get hourly pay to comp for not getting enough money to make it worth there time

It's not local. They run all 48. But they just hire around the area. What got me worried is that most small companies with 300 or less trucks want a year or two otr. And they are wanting to hire me at four months. They want me to go out with a local guy the first two weeks to make sure I know what I said I did.

I think I've answered this already.....outlaw !
They run 48 and Canada. Yes, you can get 3k plus a week. But only if you're willing to do what's needed.
Yes, they'll get you home on weekends. Most times under a load that will only get hotter by the minute.
You CAN make money with them, every week. But, you'll pay the price in the long run.
I too live about 30 miles from them. But I ain't gonna drive their trucks. -
Hey op, did you check their stats ? Lots of 11 and 14 hr violations meaning either they demand you do this or it's so cheap that's the only way your going to eat.....and 26 wrecks in 24 months?...uhm.....
