My main reason was to see if the 1200 a week was good pay
I see it isn't
I'm only 8 months old with my authority and broker rates are no where near what they were a year ago
Dry van spot rate is down to like 1.70 from 2.00
I obviously need direct shippers.. that's a no Brainerd and was already plannedramblingman Thanks this. -
And the driver text me this morning with the demand. Said he'll deliver Friday and be done
-
My question is would the raise put you in the red because more than likely your gonna lose two drivers if they're buddies. If $600 extra per week is gonna put you in the red then you might have to go a different route. Another option if it's really cutting down to the pennies show them the contract for the run plus all your realistic exspenses and then ask them to stick it out until you can find a better paying run. Try setting up a bonus hair to keep a lil while longer while you find better paying freight because 1.80 for a team truck isn't that good of a rate with your own DOT numbers

all im saying is that we dont know how exactly the conversation went down, the one thing im sure of the op need to look at the way he operates.

A buck eighty for a team, running under your own authority is extremely low. You could literally gross more by leasing that truck to a decent carrier. And have a LOT less expenses.
ramblingman and Ruthless Thank this. -
I did get the driver to stay and promised raises when rates are better after I get better freight
Thanks all, I have a better idea and it does fall with how I'm thinkingmountaingote and Rock 'n Roll Relocater Thank this. -
