    You're actually in a catch-22 stage.

Namely because of your age, and laws yet to be passed.

Many of the larger companies want to see that paper from an accredited school before they will hire you.

Many organizations are stepping up their efforts to place even more restrictions on ALL drivers, some of the stuff they are looking at, adequete training for incoming drivers.

Not wanting to go to school? And sounding ####y? I drove for 12 years, then quit for almost 5 years, let my license lapse (I had been grandfathered in)...and NO ONE would hire me without some "school" paper. Yer gonna go to school...get over yourself. Unless you can find a small outfit willing to take a chance.

Yes, you'll have to do the school time.
But you'll be ahead of the game, because of your experience thus far.
Also, because of your experience, after you graduate school, you'll sweep right on through with your next step of training. (Going with a Trainer OTR...Over-The-Road.)

Will you have to stay with a 10 wheeler? Dump truck?
NO...(but that is good to start with.) Then you can go from there to any field you want to transition into. Doubles, 53 ft. Vans, Refers, Flatbeds, Auto Haulers, Tankers, you name it.

Good Luck to you...we need more drivers out here that have the experience you have!
