Hi guys, first of all this is a great place to get all info in todays trucking...

I've read lots of threads and finally decided to start one on my own

Well there's something that's been bothering me ever since i left trucking almost two years ago so i just wanted to see what would you guys done if you were to run into a situation that i was in.... so here it goes

I once was pulled over couple of years ago in Chicago, local cop pulled me over just one mile away from a place where i picked up a load. He had me follow him to a police station and put me on a portable scale. He said i was 300lbs over on my tandems and i had to pay $600 before i could leave there. That just goes to show you how corrupt system really is... ( even tho i had nowhere to scale my load when i left the shipper and him not letting me get out of a truck to see the actual axle weights )

He never even checked my log book or anything else and when i finally paid i asked him if i needed to move my tandems to make it legal he said "i don't care, its up to you" Well all of you guys know that if you drive through a weigh station with 300lbs over on any of your axles 90% of the time they won't even pull you in...

I did get over the fact that i had to pay, but what really bothers me is the fact that they can get away with stuff like that... I didn't want to legally fight it just because it would cost me more money for a lawyer and not work for a couple of days

Well that is my thread and sorry if its lengthy i just wanted to see what would you guys have done differently?

Did he write a citation? Bet he didn't, but had a payment for his car in pocket.

Just a textbook case of corruption; it's all over America. I was given a ticket in TN for a trailer tail light being out. I stood there with the DOT officer looking at the light that was actually working; he said, "if you disagree with me I'm going to search your sleeper & I WILL find something." Another driver at the same place was in deep trouble for a can of beer magically appearing in his sleeper, even though he has severe stomach problems and can't tolerate alcohol. The Feds. finally cracked down on TN and slowed a lot of that down. Corruption is everywhere at all levels. Even the bag boy at the grocery store is stealing.

Yea he just gave me a receipt heheh I did go inside of a police station to pay and there was another guy there who was almost crying because he had to pay $4500 no lie. He told me he was 1500 lbs over on his drives and also picked up at the same place i did...

I would have told the cop to kiss my rear end....

...and even if you chose not to make it legal and just accept a citation for the overweight axle group, the fine amount stated by the cop was 6 times too high.

I would've simply smiled at the officer after paying my fine and said don't come to Nebraska. Have a friend that works for the sheriffs department. You think you got raked over the coals I shudder to think what would've happened to that Chicago cop if he would've done that to me and my friend wouldve got ahold of him lmfao.

I'd have asked the cop if he knew my buddy Georgie, who works downtown in Internal Affairs.
