I’ve been very pleased with the new X15 from Cummins. That engine is a 2017 emissions.
They made it much smaller and lighter, as well as so far trouble free. If you can go that new I definitely would. -
I actually haven't had any trouble in quite a few years on my 2012 Detroit. ... but I don't idle and run 70 or the speed limit. ...... and avoid temperatures below 15 degrees, 2015 and newer have better designed systems on Detroit 2014 are supposed to be better ... over 700k on it and never had to do a regen. ....

My 2015 has given me no trouble at all. It does it's own regens while driving and one or two overnight when I've idled when it was REALLY cold, as in below 0.
690k and all it's had is a doser valve and DPF cleanings on schedule. -

2016/17 seems to be when the problems with emissions systems started to decline.
KB3MMX Thanks this. -

2018 x15 efficiency just turned 100k. Never any problems, not one check engine light. Last truck 2018 paccar mx13, check engine light was on more than off. Under warranty but still a pain. 2014 volvo d13 in 120k miles only one issue and it was the exhaust pipe insulation clogged the dpf. Still took the dealer a week to diagnose the problem and another to order and replace the pipe.
blairandgretchen and KB3MMX Thank this.
