There is definitely some incorrect information in this thread.

I seen someone state there are some 2011 trucks with DEF, this is simply not true. You will not find one 2011 truck with a urea tank on it, and DEF injection. The DEF system was not required on 2011 trucks, it was mandated for 2012 and up.

The best thing you could ever do is build a Peterbilt 389 glider, and find a re-manufactured 3406E Cat, or find a 6NZ, better yet. Do that and you will have at least 1,000,000 trouble free, high fuel mileage miles ahead of you.

So what is that sitting between the fuel tank and the tandems on this 2011 KW?

Late 2002 was EGR. It's rare, but there are some 2002's out there with EGR. 2007 for DPF and 2010 for SCR. When trucks are pre-ordered, they can have the emissions for the year ordered. That's how you get some 2003's without EGR and 2007's without DPF's. Many big fleets pre-ordered extra 2007 units in 2006 to delay the roll out of DPF's in their fleet. The thinking was, let everyone else have problems and the 2008's will be better.

Hi, i got a c-13 2004 year Freightliner truck. I am trying to figure out where my coolant is leaking. if i don't have egr cooler - thats one less coolant leak possibility. I assume it does not have egr cooler, right? Thanks

Correct, your engine does not use EGR. I would suspect your pre-cooler is leaking and pushing coolant through the air-to-air if you don't see any signs of an external leak. If it is the pre-cooler, change or rebuild the diverter valve at the same time.

    serozhah Thanks this.

The company I worked for in 2010 had 25 Volvo 670s, all with DEF. We did not somehow acquire 2012 Volvos in May 2010, so there IS a lot of misinformation on this thread - yours.

is that the oil cooler you are talking about? I know my coolant is not running away from me through the coolant overflow tube cause now i drive with gallon jug strapped to it to make sure its not spitting coolant... So since i don't have coolant leaving through the overflow tube, does it rule out the leaking pre-cooler? Thank you

Not the oil cooler.....let's figure out what engine we're dealing with first. Is your C13 a twin turbo ACERT engine?
