What you like about trucking?

Big trucks are cool, and I have had a fasination with them since I was a little kid. But mostly for me it is the fact that I don't have anyone watching over me, telling me what to do or how to do it.

 

Independence, freedom, no co-workers bothering you.

And the fun stuff: 475 horse under your right foot, jake brakes going down a hill, being bigger then everyone else on the road.

 

What's NOT to like???? I enjoy the variety of freight I haul, and the challenges of securement, permitting, etc. Plus I juts plain enjoy driving. I enjoy the satisfaction of hauling things people WANT; and enjoy being appreciated in that sense. I have met a LOT of fantastic people and have friends all over the country. I get to travel, work on my own equipment, and just enjoy the heck out of driving a big truck. It's what I wanted to do since I was a kid; done it since '92 and it's still all I want to do. "Moving's the closest thing to being free"........and I enjoy being on the move........

 

What do I like about trucking you ask,give me a week,i'm sure i'll think of something.

 

I'm trying and can't think of one thing,lol.Back in the day when I first started driving I really loved it.Now it's just another job.I can think of alot of positive things but don't think you would like them,lol.I guess seeing the beautiful scenery going thru mountains and canyons is pretty awesum.Have'nt had to see that in over a yr now but soon i'll get back to otr.Also meeting ppl is always nice especially when you're having a bad day,that helps get you out of your mood.

 

Not sitting in an office or staying in one place. scenery is always changing, meeting new people, making new friends, the feel of the open road... it just feels like freedom. Of course there are a bunch of negatives that can go along with it, you just try to minimize them. But drivin for a living...I can think of a lot worse things to do for a living.

 

for me, it's the sense of pride I take in doing my job mostly oversize,the challenges of these loads keeps me on my toes and thinking.I truly love what I do

 

I use to go to Canada once a week with Werner.Guess they thought I did such a good job the first time they wanted to leave me on certain accounts,lolI would say it depends on the company you drive for to have positive things about trucking.
