How are you pulling up those maps with the fuel locations?
I could never figure that out?
Thanks
What's a better fuel card EFS or NASTC?

Okay, here's an update on my recent membership to XPO/EFS fuel program.
I decided to start by utilizing the ACH credit format first before I jumped through the credit option hoops.
The application process was simple, followed by receipt of the Control Cards & Fuel Cards. The account rep from FTS was very adept at online set up process, took about 20 minutes in all. Any follow up questions I had initially were answered by phone promptly.
There are 2 ways to fund the account when going cash. 1) Bank wire transfer 2) ACH credit. Most bank wires charge $15 to $20. ACH (which is what I opted for) is free. It took 2 days (via ACH) to show up as a credit on the fleet card account.
So far I've made 2 purchases. The way the program works is the fuel purchase at the vendor shows the EFS "standard" card price. The discount amount is credited back to your card balance immediately. Pretty standard stuff really.
As has been previously noted, the only fee is a $1.25 swipe fee. They offer Western Union payments, etc, for an additional fee. Without going to deep into the weeds they send you EFS checks you can use to pay lumpers, maintenance costs, etc.
You also have the option (through their online portal) to generate a payment code for a vendor who accepts that option. You obviously have to have the money in the account to cover said transactions or need to be set up with the credit option.
XPO sends out a daily fuel discount rate sheet via email once a day around 1000 CT.
What I've discovered so far is that I can purchase fuel in California on I-5 at 2 particular independent locations (cash) for less than I can using the XPO card, this week it was 0.28 per gallon less at those 2 locations.
Yes, I don't get the points or the showers fueling at TA, however, the 200 gallons I pumped was $56 less than using the XPO/EFS card. I checked LS SavingsPlus discount and it was still less.
Even if you add back the 0.01 per gallon reward and $15 for a shower, that's still a savings of $39 buying at the independent place.
However, my Oregon lane is a few cents less via the XPO/EFS card over the independent station I usually buy from in Oregon. So, I think for me, the plan is to make a couple of smaller purchases up here to get the shower reward(s) and to buy fuel at the independents in California.
It's a win win
Finally, LS SavingsPlus appears to be one of the best fuel discount programs out there for the independent owner operator by about 0.05 per gallon less at the TA/Petro I've compared. However, as I previously stated, you can only use their card with monies that have been added via settlements of loads you run for them.
XPO/EFS program appears to be on par with NASTC program, however, there is no annual membership fee.
This is just my experience, another person's mileage may vary.Last edited: Jan 18, 2019

By the way, there is a way to get a free coffee at TA/Petro, but you must have Platinum status and have fueled 75+ gal. I once thought gaining 20,000 in one calendar year was very difficult, but it turns out points received from truck shop repairs do count. To maintain the status you must earn 10k each year. The status had more benefits before this year, such as one free reserved parking per month and no expiration of showers but with a limit of 10 showers. It wouldn’t surprise me if they eventually get rid of it, though. It looks like they are slowly killing it.

Are NASTC discounts constant? I am using Fleet One Edge and they are different from a week to week. For instance, when I first got it they were so good at some fuel stops (60-90c) that I paid as low as 2.15 but now even though the cash price went down, the discounted price went quite up; closer to 2.50 (20-30c). I'd like to have some predictability.
