I will be attending a school soon and at 50 years old hoping for good pay , based on what I've seen on this site this is what I expect to see. Wish it was more $$

    Just Graduated: 30-33 cmp 120,000 miles= $36,000-$39,600 70 hour work week $ 9.89 per hour to $10.87

    1-2 years 35-42cmp 120,000 miles = $42,000-$50,400 $11.53 per hour to - $13.85

    3-5 years 45-55 cmp 120,000miles = $54,000- $66,000 $14.83 per hour to $18.13

When you break it down to hours based on a 70 hour work week can anyone tell me that they are not worth $18 per hour after 5 years and as a noob $9.89 to start is better then McDonalds but not much better . McDonalds you at least can sleep at home.

Now that I look at my numbers , Why do I want to do this job?:biggrin_25523:

Add up all time in the truck. 24/7. Not miles, hourly. If im in the truck, every second, minute, I want to get paid. Ill bet Its under Minimum wage, heck, probably WAAAAAAAAAY under minimum wage. Like I said, I When I climb up in that truck, the clock starts, when the clock stops, Im getting out of the truck. I have better things to do on my own time.

doing the same job--should you not get the same pay as anybody else starting at the same employer
then i can see raises for longevity and fuel/safety bonuses
just cause you have driving for 20 yrs does not neccesarily make you anybetter than somebody driving for 2 yrs
i have witnessed many drivers with 20 yrs exp and it looks like they have 2 yrs

Back when I started it was about .29-.31 cpm
Then by 6 months in I was at about .34 cpm
Been out the game for 3 yrs and now they trying to bring me in at .29cpm
So here's my opinion of what it should be

    1. .35cpm for newbies on 2500 miles a week that's 875 and require $75 a week payback to schools or companies with a 95% safety rating. This stops "Driver Mills" and creates better quality drivers.
    2. By yr 2, I'd say .50cpm which would be 1250 weekly average. Schools paid off and now the drivers are making more and spending more on the road and building the economy back up.
    3. By yr 5, I'd say .80cpm or give 65% on percentage scale and only book quality paying loads. Progressed like this you have good pay and better happier drivers.
