All great answers here is my 2 cents worth. Like thbatman8 said comunication is the key. I always do my trip plan and see when I will arrive. If I will be early then I call the reciver and ask them if they take early deliveries. If they say no then my 2nd question, "is there onsite or nearby parking". Then my next call is to my DM and I will let her know that I will be arriving early. If there is a drop yard near by I can drop the load and move on to my next one most of the time. If not then I have to plan accordingly. So if I know I am going to be a day early or 10 hrs early and I can't drop the load, then I know I can take it easy the last few miles and don't have to drive a full 10 or 8.

Service failures are usually late deliveries, damaged goods, or sometimes an attempted early delivery. When your company goes to the customer to ask for a rate increase they usually get told no, you had to many service failures to warrant a rate increase at this time.
