i did a short gig as an unpaid trainer.........when i was with ComTrans many years ago. i WANTED no body odor, no smoking, no eating, and absolute cleanliness in the truck at all times (DO NOT PUT FINGERS ON MY CLEAN GLASS...!!). as you have seen, those trucks are big on the outside, but VERY small on the inside in my opinion.

i WANTED the newbie to DO AS TOLD and NOT to argue with me. i would say HOW LONG a newbie will drive. I WANTED to get the loads picked up and delivered. i HAD NO TIME for newbies that thought they knew it all.

i WANTED things done MY WAY, as the truck and the newbie, and the freight are MY responsibility......... when a newbie argues or second guesses a trainer, that's the end right there. paying attention to what you are told, and do it the trainers way. many trainers just will use you as a second seat driver so they can get the miles. many trainers will actually train you, but more importantly, "hone your skills" for driving and survival on the roads.

be prepared to be the map reader, the sign reader, the loader/unloader, the fueler, whatever else the trainer WANTS you to be.....

in the end, if you cooperate and do not argue, you will do fine, and get by training.
