What's avg gross a year fuel hauling?

I pulled in 72k first year in the industry, while being hit hard by the pandemic

 

You coming from LTL, 80k a year to run nights and sacrifice a weekend day... not worth it.

You want me to run nights, you gotta pay me for it, 80k is a start, sure. You want me to run Saturdays too? Add another 10k minimum.

 

Who is that for? I live in Longview and want to haul fuel. I have experience

 

The job I’m hoping to accept ASAP is fuel. 4-12s per week that grosses $76k/yr. Considering the same 48 hours/week working 5 days/week at my current gig grosses me $67k and is wayyy more demanding/physical......it’s a no-brainer for me. Money’s not everything either. When I switched to trucking earlier this year, I left a career working 40 hrs/week (only 3 shifts per week) and grossing $105k/yr the last two yrs there. But the depression, politics, illness, stress, horseshat, etc that came with it........well, you can keep all that.

 

I haven’t found this to be the case, for me.

I just started my fuel hauling job to local stations in the Anchorage area last August; due to the virus I was laid off from the best job I’ve ever had in my life in April.

Maybe this job is difficult for me because I’m 6 foot six, but constantly bending down to set and pick up drop spouts, open and close lids, opening then closing combination locks, constantly opening or closing camlock‘s ect. is more work than I’ve ever done driving a truck.

Before this job which started five months ago, I had seven years experience hauling a tanker-trailer in the oil fields of Texas, North Dakota and the North Slope.

Most of that work, which involved hauling oil field fluids to and from the drilling rigs and offered lots of standby time was very easy compared to gas hauling.

I work Fridays through Monday, 10 hours a day earning just over $1000 a week, but I have good health insurance that I only pay $265 a month for the family plan, and the company puts four dollars an hour into a 401(k) until I’m vested with the Union.

My entire time in the oil fields I would work for several weeks or months and then takeoff month before returning to work… I miss the oil fields.

 

Come haul corrosives up in the PNW for a bit and then fuel will look like childs play.

 

Hauling gas to stations sucks period. Your out in the weather all day , and get to deal with the public and the store clerk who can’t speak English.......
