I hope so, the only way to describe it, is “Build Baby Build!” Although I’m seeing A LOT of questionable building practices, like digging basements while the compaction is still going on, 6 story WOOD frame apartment complexes, etc etc. Established nebighorhoods are getting slammed also, as contractors race to install basement suite enterances (Thanks a lot Nenshit) in every home in existence.

They’re even starting to cleanup and reclaim Ogden and Riverbend!

Yea, but they told him to call, cause right now they really gotta “sell” a reefer job. Prob the hardest hit, and worst part of trucking to be in IMHO. I’m pretty sure I do more Van loads to Conbec, Lineage/Versacold, TCS than reefer companies are doing lol. Krown Produce is hardly open these days (a major customer of ours is next door). Ocean is full of returned/repoded reefers. Oh and Trappers just returned 40 company trucks to Peterbilt Manitoba, and moved out of their terminal in Wpg.

I had last thursday off because of no work and the other night guy was off Friday and there’s only 2 of us on night shift . We lost the unilever account in Brampton to Charger so i knew things would get slow . I hear all the mega’s are slow right now , Not seeing a whole lot better then where i’m at so i will just see how things turn out . it’s hard starting over and losing that 4 weeks off plus 10 sick days

Thursdays are slow for us also, I usually only do 8 hrs on second shift (10am-10pm) where I normally do 10-13 every other day. Mega’s are literally dead, Bison told all their city guys, either get in a Hwy truck or get lost. Used to see an army of their daycabs all day long, now I might see 1 a week. They have 2 massive terminals now, one in Crossiron by Rona/Lowes DC and the main one on Wrangler road. You couldn’t get another truck/trailer into either of them. The only thing they seem to having going on, is some CP intermodal work down off 106th in the SE and Costco DC in Airdrie. Hardly see their pikes anymore, and the few I do see, are the valet Daycab switch guys. TransX might have 2 trucks driving around lol. Busiest guys seem to be Hwy 9, Day and Ross, and then Us. J&R Hall won’t stop following me around, trying to steal our work, so that’s annoying. Lightspeed has begun liquidating their assets. IHaul had one truck in the door up at Freeport Loblaws today, I was shocked.

Crazy times, the local scabby bottom feeders, seems to be running around the most. Lots of them pulling other companies trailers, with what can only be described as “scrap metal” trucks lol.

Yeah, seems to be slowing everywhere.
We just let 2 of our linehaul guys go. Out of a 2 week work period, used to work 10 days, now we are down to 6 or 7 days. With the two guys laid off we should see 7 or 8 days a pay period now I'm thinking/hoping.

Megas up North like Titanium, Mill Creek, TransX etc. All seem good when times were good in Trucking. However, Most keep putting out ads on the Indeed algorithm with all great enticing incentives. The only problem is catching recruiter's lies trying to persuade. Many think that a driver or owner operator wouldn't know or fibd out the real deal occurring. One told me once that they pay insurance for their o/o later telling me there is a 15% deductible in another conversation. Imo this speaks for its self and why I personal chose a smaller company for my truck thats extremely transparent. Its never a good business situation when a company taking on a driver or lease o/o hasn't the respect from the get go to be upfront.

I had yesterday off also no work so i used a vacation day other wise my paycheque would be like $1300 next week . Next week is Usa thanksgiving giving so i’m sure both of us will be off next week . Big problem for us is losing Unliever in brampton to Charger . Company told us unilever decided to outsource all bids to a management company who’s main focus was $$$ only not long term relationships . For me and the other night shift driver that’s a huge blow to us because all we did was run back and forth to pick up empties. I keep thinking about applying to Tst-cf express for a highway run but i know alot of the ltl companies are slow right now and a lot of times lay drivers off after xmas and i got bills to pay no time for that bs

Charger severely undercuts people then loses contract within 6 months often after messing it up badly at both ends.. unfortunately many companies are in survival mode . A lot will be gone by spring

Amazon work has been running steady. Been running amazon for nearly 3 years and it's busy from April-December and dead from January to March. Haven't really noticed a decrease in work.
