Yea, we have our own version of Charger here in the west, called "New Way Trucking". Basically the lowest of the low, they managed to get a couple contracts off us, the same way @classicxl described (conned the email jockeys with rock bottom rates). 3 months later, customers come back due to horrible service/claims/smashed up docks etc etc. One even had the audacity, to ask use back, but at the New Way rates. Thankfully my company held firm, and were back at our rates.
One thing that really sucks tho, when companies start using losers like Bison, Charger, New Way. They start writing policies/procedures to try and mitigate the utter stupidity. Once those companies get fired, that "corporate caring" remains. Recently I've been mouthing off quite a bit, that I don't work for the idiots those procedure's were written for, so they don't apply to me. Prob not the smartest move, but I'm just getting so fed up with things getting screwed up, because some other company is retarded. Luckily my terminal manager and dispatcher have my back, when the inevitable calls come in, complaining that I don't adhere to their every whim.
What's everyone's thoughts with Titanium Transport. I'm at my witts end with my current company.

Amazon is non-stop out here also, its really quite amazing considering we have 8 Amazon DC's in Calgary and area now. My only complaint, is Amazon's standards for carriers are abysmal. Literally scrap metal, with masking tape decals rolling in and out of these big fancy DC's. Must like Costco, I don't know why Amazon won't bring their own fleets to Canada? I have friends in the US who work for both Costco Fleet, and Amazon AFP, and both are literal dream jobs, with none of the issues we have here in Canada. I guess they're just addicted to cheap contractors, and won't change until that supply runs out.
Also I've been spending A LOT of time up at Sobeys lately, and man, who would put up with that abuse as a driver? lol. I guess their in a competition with Walmart, for who can run the ####tier private fleet.Another Canadian driver, Magoo1968, Canadianhauler21 and 2 others Thank this. -

Kriska has told us they will not drop rates to a point where safety is at risk . i will say since i started here in 2012 i’ve notice we have lost a ton of work . Most nights we do 2 or 3 deliveries/ pick ups then it’s all empties . Have to be honest i worry if this place may close up and if so where would i go . Seems like there’s new companies in Brampton popping up every weekAnother Canadian driver, BigHossVolvo, Albertaflatbed and 2 others Thank this. -
Amazon loves their contractors. It puts no responsibility on amazon. They'll never give up the contractors in favor of their own drivers. Too much liability.Another Canadian driver, '88K100, BigHossVolvo and 1 other person Thank this.

It was a bit of a slow Monday, and some weird things happened over the weekend, which got me thinking of who I would apply to, if anything happened to my current GIG. I would prob start with TST-CF, in a daycab doing P&D with LCV short haul. Second Option would be Daycab LCV with Highway 9 or Day and Ross.
Even in this downturn, with companies going under all over the place. Its like you said about Brampton, new companies showing up every day, and more and more shifting around of existing scabby outfits into different scabby outfits.Another Canadian driver, '88K100 and Albertaflatbed Thank this. -
Yea that's vibe I get up here, shame really, those Amazon/Prime daycabs are sharp, and the 3 on 3 off rotation would be a dream!Another Canadian driver, Canadianhauler21 and Albertaflatbed Thank this.

I use to be at TST Porter, which became TST Overland which merged with CF.
I just ran mostly nights between their terminals in the four western provinces. I made good money there as they always managed to keep me rolling.
Some of the guys complained about not getting enough money, but they refused to go to Vancouver. I just said yes to what ever they had, and they seemed to appreciate it.
Don’t know what it’s like nowadays. I left to haul grain closer to home.Another Canadian driver, Magoo1968, Albertaflatbed and 1 other person Thank this. -
Appreciate the info, I honestly just hope my current gig is my last one. 40 this year, I would be perfectly happy to retire here, as long as they dont go Full Bison (we have A LOT of Ex Bison drivers and Office staff, some of the idea's are creeping in) or they get sold/go under.
The discussion about short haul LCV switches is starting, which would be my ideal job! So here is hoping we can get something going there.Another Canadian driver, Canadianhauler21, Magoo1968 and 2 others Thank this. -
Looks like Titanium has a new contract out of St. Mary's hustling for lease on O/o's. However still refuse to give an honest rate con to the O/o's. Seems like control is a serious deal with them?
