Not to mention almost always illegal, even if the seal - pull tab on the container is intact.

I know it's a dead thread but feel like opening it back up. Pretty interesting topic actually.

Usually my packing list is :
2 ribeye steaks. One fresh one frozen
2 chicken breasts. Fresh and frozen
Frozen individual packed white fish filets
    Hummus
    Deli turkey cold cuts
    Hummus
    Swiss cheese
    Romaine lettuce
    Tomatoes
    Cucumber
    Celery
    Broccoli
    Carrots
Berries. Strawberry blue berry or black berry.... whatever i can find
    Non fat plain greek yogurt
    Milk
frozen fruit bars and maybe an ice cream bar or 2.

and a couple of bottles of good beer hidden down in the back.

    texasbbqbest and Dreamboat Thank this.

This is what I have in my cooler right now...

No room for a refrigerator here... :biggrin_25513: I buy bags of ice... BTW, need to buy one now... It keeps stuff really cold... even colder than those 12V coolers... But have to drain it every day... besides the cost of the ice...

I am lacto-vegetarian... buy groceries at Walmart every week and cook the old fashion way... on a stove... No microwave, no toaster... none of that... :biggrin_25512: Slice my vegies and legumes on an improvised table on my bed, and cook it all in one pot... season with spices, salt, garlic, pepper...
Those veggies can start to get old after a few days in the cooler, even with ice.... So, I have to buy just enough to fill it up and leave room for the ice... Once I open the bags of veggies, got to cook it right away and finish them in 3 days or so... or they become slimy.... Spinach goes bad very quickly too... and then it's "good" only for mixing with other cooked food in the pot.

I did the Ice in a cooler bit for a little over a year and man I feel your pain. Rigged a small drain to make life easier but don't ever buy loves ice.... it's pretty much melted by the time you pay for it!

A fantastic, tax deductible investment is a Truckfridge or an Engel cooler. Cost about $800+ but so so worth it.

Everything stays so fresh, ice cream stays hard frozen.... they're even higher quality than the units that come factory installed in some trucks.

Couldn't keep a frig due to being switched out onto different trucks all the time & found that a frig doesn't always fit. Switched to a cooler with wheels for easy rolling from the house. Filled it with homemade smoothies that I'ld freeze the night before leaving home. I would have to replenish the ice about every day though to keep things fresh which I would get for free from the soda machines. A few years back I discovered that the cream from the TS's coffee machines was making my blood sugar go up so I started to carry my own. Would also make & freeze stews or soups & divide them into containers with each one just the right size to pop into a microwave for a meal.

Negative. No desktop on the truck, Local Driver with a small dedicated beer fridge at home.
had some fun with the headline, beer would not be on the truck, it would be whiskey. Screw the laws.
