So this thread is kinda self explanitory Id think. I noticed in the manual I got for the CDL that id have to do a pre trip which i expected. But what all do you have to know for the C class? I know half the stuff that would aply to a semi wouldnt aply here, any help is appreciated :)

I think all that applies to a semi, except maybe the airbrakes stuff. (COLA, and leak checking on the air systems) Outside that, I think it all applies.

I think B is where air brakes start in, other than that, its all there, you have to check it. Anyone else know different?

Thats a little scary. I don't pretrip my car, but I'm not carrying cargo. When I take a long trip, I do check my fluids/tires/brakes etc before going, and usually at least once a day after the initial. Long drives tend to bring out the worst in any vehicle.

It SHOULD be on the test!

Right! But I do know some states/testers let you use a check list so if thats the case it shouldnt be to bad.

When I got my C, I checked under the hood for wires, hoses, oil, washer fluid, etc. On the outside, I did the mirrors, brakes, tires, lights, windshield, etc. Inside the car, I did the brakes, emergency brake, A/C & defroster, gauges, etc.

You need to check everything on the list that applies to your particular test vehicle. I drove a truck for my Class A test that did not have a 5th wheel, but rather a pull trailer. There is a 5th wheel inspection section on the list, but you can't check it if it ain't there.

Same thing happened to my brother in law, who rattled off rear air bags for his pre trip on the drive axle, when in fact that truck had none. The instructor reminded him that he did not have to inspect it if it was not there.

Go through the section, and you can omit anything not on your testing vehicle.
