Hi Guys,
I thought I'd start an interesting thread. I'm wondering what is the biggest hindrance/problem(s) you find are preventing you from making more money/building your business?
Feel free to call out minor problems too. Eventually I'd like to talk to some trucking experts on how they've mitigated some of the biggest issues that are compiled here and create a guide for new truckers/owner operators looking improve their business.
Thanks!
Tim

Hi Guys,
I thought I'd start an interesting thread. I'm wondering what is the biggest problem(s) you've continually found is keeping you from making more money/building your business? Feel free to call out minor problems too.
Also, if there's anything anyone has done to mitigate or help with any of the problems listed please call those out as well. Eventually I'll compile the problems/potential fixes/solutions for everyone to help reduce some of the headaches we're encountering in our industry.
Thanks!

Why?
Are you writing a book or something? -
planners, sometimes they can be your Angel and other times the devil when it comes to getting miles and making money.
Fuel cost is a major one for some, if you shop around you can save thousands a year in fuel. Example you are in California and have fuel but think you need to fill up to make your trip to lets say Texas, see how far you can go on your current fuel level and use apps on your phone to check prices throughout that trip, one example fuel might be $3.80 in California where you are but you can drive to Arizona where you might find a couple stations at $3.40
Thats just a quick example from personal experience.
Utilize your time better, plan out your trips and hours and try to make it where you can just keep rolling, 500 miles a day usually can keep you going steady without needing 34's. Stop at rest stops instead of wasting a half hour trying to find parking at the truck stop.
Thats just my beginning but will post more if I think of it. -
how many different ways are you going to ask the same question?
ShootThis Thanks this. -
My wife!!! Lol, stop me if you heard these...Seriously though, there is good freight and money to be made if you are intelligent. The problem I have is expanding, adding more trucks. Its very difficult to find good drivers that will not destroy your equipment, or not do a good job taking care of the customers you worked hard to get. Add in the new costs of compliance, it can make or break you.

Book or not....
The same question multiple times could be seen as spamming the site. -
Sorry about that - I'm new to the site and didn't expect to get this many posts so soon! I figured posting in a couple different discussion boards would net the best response. I'll refrain from the spam in the future.
You are correct that I'm going to compile them into a report. I think there's a lot of valuable information that can be shared amongst us to ensure we don't make the same mistakes and if there's a solution someone has found to a problem that's heckling all of us then we should definitely get that out there.
Also, I was talking about the report with my brother (whose big into computer development) he mentioned that depending on the problems outlined in the report, he may be able to write some software to solve some of the problems (depending on the problem/if software can solve it).
