That doesn't mean hes never driven company trucks with over 500hp. Where he works hauling frac sand they have 505 dd15 and isx 550s....both over 500 and both dead as a door nail. With all the epa bs they feel like old 350s with their balls cut off

I don't doubt that you saw that. that driver got taken for a ride. The driveline that Volvo uses is meritor. A quick call to the dealer with your Vin will get you all the model numbers of your driveline components. Also don't let the dealer fool you. They can give you manufacturers part numbers too.

You are absolutely correct. If I need an inj I have to go to Volvo. If I need an exhaust manifold gasket, same thing. That being said, I hope that stud isn't going bad that often. If so then I'll get really broke really quick

So he never owned a 500 HP truck, yet you disagree. Fascinating.

Hi spyder, HA, well, I'm not THAT old, but I do remember dumping a load of sand at a golf course once, there was an old guy watching me, and when he signed my ticket, he said, "boy, you younguns' got it made". He said when he was young, it was his job to get to the horse stable early, and feed the horses oats,( I guess that's where the saying "feelin' their oats" came from) so the horses would be all snapped up to pull the loaded carts out of the gravel pits, and it was the driver's job to HAND CRANK the dump bed to dump the load. Wow!

Hi Brett, I remember when the Cummins 350 "Formula" motors came out, we called them "castrated" 350's.:biggrin_2559:

I respect my DD60 14L. 7.5mpg, annual average, fairly reliable, although we're up to 930K now and a few things are getting old. Like my injectors, some sensors, but no oil consumption, a dependable money maker. To date. Funny, it's in the shop right now for a loud turbo screeching, but I accept that as long term maintenance, and whine about other stuff. Like crappy shops, disoriented shipper/receivers, well, the list is long and you all know it already. Something I don't like is those SpeedCo PM's, all those guys running around yelling at each other, oil in a multi-brand hose, I have no feeling of confidence. I will get their oil analysis some day. Anyway, kind of not in this post, but maintenance is so important for any power plant I thought to add a comment....
