oh there is money to be made alright....without a doubt....we gross between $2700. and $3000. a week....BUT ITS GOING to the same household....there are advantages of running team...its just not for everyone...but then again, neither is driving a truck..LOL

someone mentioned 5000 a week being a bad week...yeah usually run 7000 miles a week.....

I could not have said it better. Also, do NOT buy into their BS that you'll be able to run twice as many miles team. That dog won't hunt. Posted averages are 1.3 to 1.4 times the miles. Keep in mind you'll be splitting around 40 cpm. You'll actually make less money than running solo at 32cpm. Been there, done that, have the T-shirt.

I was offered a job with a company that showed me average runs - week in week out of 1250.00 gross per driver. From what I could see, the problems are many the benefits are few. This company didn't pair two guys permanent, there were 25 trucks that you could be assigned to and 49 other guys and each week was the luck of the draw. theoretically you could be assigned a new truck and a different team mate every week for 25 weeks - for an extra 250.00 a week.

I stop when I want. I sleep where I want. I drive as fast or as slow as I see fit; if I want a conversation - I talk to God. The only way that I would team up is if I found a good woman with a keen eye and a desire for me.

You'd give all that freedom up
for a "good woman with a keen eye" and a desire for you?
    Hmmmmmmmm ------

Have you talked to God 'bout that?
Never know, that might be a sin.

How exactly do you mean? If you're trying to split the miles evenly forget about it, won't happen.

If you mean shifts, people do it different ways. We run 10-11 on, 10 off. When I wasn't on a dedicated, usually only 10 on so the hours stayed even not knowing what was coming next load. Some people like to run 12 hour shifts because it helps them sleep as they work over the same time period in the day everyday. Have to also decide how you handle 14's on days when unloading or loading.

We just take it as it comes, never stay to any kind of schedule other than drive your 10 at least. If we feel like doing a 14 we do, if not, wake the other guy up.

Donkey, the best way to split is to run 5 and 5's. 5 hours drive, 5 hours sleep. This can only be done with paper logs though. When I first started driving you could log it this way but now the little fat guys behind the desk making the rules for us won't allow it anymore! It is really tough to stay in that sleeper for 10+ hours at a time! You can't sit up front either because they will ticket you if you aren't logging as "on duty".

Running 5 hour shifts is the most ultimate way to drive team! It works so well and you are rarely tired and your time driving goes by quick too! 300 miles a session and then bedtime! Miss those days!
