Personally, I could never sleep after being awake only five hours. I know a lot of guys that loved it that way though.

I teamed with my brother 2 times. It's a whole lot easier by yourself. I make more money driving solo than team. The truck does move everyday so sometimes you will be waiting for a pickup or drop. One will be wide awake while the other is sleeping or trying to. Driving solo when I get sleepy I can rest. Teaming is not worth it.

Its all going to depend on the individual. Some are meant to team and some are meant to solo. Can't see you making more money as a solo though unless your current company just can't keep a team busy. If you are going to team make sure to go with a larger carrier and make sure they have the freight to keep a team busy.

Love that Pete, though I would be madder then hell driving behind you at night while you were bobtailing!

We had a horse trailer just like that and we used to catch so much flack from the other drivers because their headlights would blind themselves! Its a good way to fend of tailgaters though!

Perdy truck nonetheless, and I LOVE the back door to the sleeper! God that would make life so much sweeter!

Dirty bob it took a little getting used to when I was first taught to drive that schedule. Even if you aren't tired its only 5 hours. You will sleep on your next down 5. If you are over tired its nothing for the other driver to drive another hour or so. This worked so well with my wife. It also allows for no one person to drive either all night or all day. It can be tough to pull 12hrs at night and as a team you really have to keep going.

The worst thing about the 5 and 5 that I can think of is when you go home!

I really think though that teams should be exempt from running logs. You just divide up the driving time and when one driver is tired the other drive. Common sense! Logs were basically created so that drivers weren't forced to drive tired. If there are two drivers than what's the point?!

Show me a team that insists on splittin' everything equally, --- 50/50,
And I'll show y'all a team that won't last very long as a team.

When y'all are dawg tired when your 5 hours sleeper time arrives, and y'all are asleep before your head
hits the pillow, --- and you sleep like a log without wakin' up till it's your turn to drive.
And, as you open the curtains your eyes get a blast of a settin' Sun --- that shouldn't be settin' for another
two hours, ...... and realize that you've over-slept a couple of hours without knowin' it, --- but your co-driver says
not to worry 'bout it, 'cause he just figured you were tired and needed the extra sleep so he kept on truckin'.

    Oh!
    BTW
There's a Subway foot-long sandwich and a soda for you in the cooler. I got hungry and stopped to grab a bite, ---
you were out like a light
:biggrin_25518: so I got one for you.
I'll pull 'er over in about 50 miles and we can change seats.
    I'll be tired by then.

    Here's an AfterShock AfterThought ----
    :biggrin_2558:

If a co-driver doesn't get enough sleep and they're groggy when it's their turn to drive, ---
how well will y'all sleep knowin' that?
    :biggrin_25524:
Personally, I'd do whatever necessary to insure my co-driver is as rested as possible while
I'm sawin' logs back in the bunk.
I'd rather not wake up dead.
    :biggrin_25512:
