    Sure does, especially pulling reefers.

So they are asking because they have a nice run available that gets you right near home?

They're asking because they know you're a Road Warrior and love the long OTR runs with lots of night driving, coast-to-coast. Pulling reefers, you're not limited to refrigerated freight and dispatchers like that. You can pull refrigerated, dry van, hazmat freight.

    Lostmykey and bryan21384 Thank this.

Let him/her know from day one. My dispatcher was a woman in Tennessee and she had about 3 drivers, including me, that she knew would never let her down on loads. We never failed her and were richly rewarded in return.

Is that really that hard a find? Someone that actually wants to run, gets rolling after 10 hours is up; instead of jerking off at the truckstop for an extra few hours to the point the load is late? Can the bar really be that low?

Sometimes I'd be told, " I have this crap load from Nashville to Atlanta and no one will take it."
I'd say, "Give it to me then." She already knew I'd say that.
I'd make the delivery in Atlanta and call her, and she'd say something like, "I know you want to go home, but I have this hot load to Bakersfield, California. She already knew I'd say, "Well, alright, I'll do this favor for you and take the load."

Yes, it can be difficult. Too many crybabies that would complain if you hung them with a brand new rope.

Assuming the load from Bakersfield wasnt headed to somewhere like San Francisco/Oakland or San Diego Id be all over doing that "favor" too. Just time it so you get most of the Cali driving done at night. If i get to choose between 3 or 4 short runs vs 1 long haul over 4 days i can deal with an unload in California.

    bryan21384 and Chinatown Thank this.

I make more money than I ever have before, and I'm home daily. OTR has absolutely nothing for me.
