$10 to $12.50 here, must have a CDL, must have 2 years of experience. If you are trying to get on at Dollar General, then you must work the floor first before they will allow you to drive the dog.
what's the average salary of a yard dog?

Be careful if you become a yard dog. You can become complacent. I work LTL and those guys will haul ### around the yard. One of our SoCal terminals ran over a driver last year. We are forced to wear safety vest now. Also last yr in out sister company a dock supervisor in KS got pinned between the dock and a trailer and killed. Supervisor dropped his radio and jumped down to pick it up. So even though it's just in the yard a lot can happen. Be careful.
Pmracing Thanks this. -
I did this for awhile in Texas, got 14.00 an hour, good job if you like to read. Place I worked all I did was sit in the mule wait for a call on radio and move trailers nothing else and the place had about 30 docks about 3-4 moves per hour lol. Most the time I was helping truck drivers back in or just telling them to drop their loads so I could back something up lol. I always had that yard perfect, trailers were lined up exact, it was a #### work of art. When it was time to get off, I ran out the gate.
When I go to yards that are a freaking mess with trailers blocking busy paths I have to just frown at those low skill mule drivers.
