One of the places I am looking at, you have to spend 7 weeks with a trainer before you can go solo. That got me to thinking, is this the norm? How long did any of you go with your trainer before going solo?
What's the average time with a trainer?

At USA they have certain amount of hours. If the trainer feels you need more training you get it. If you just plain suck, it will not be good.

Not nearly enough

What ever a recruiter tells you ,remember,he's paid by commission, only makes $ if he signs you to his outfit,so think used car salesman,if it's not in writing,it's probably BS.
The other thing is the time they give you to be trained doesn't include the time spent waiting for load assignments, slow shippers receivers, breakdown repair time, foul weather delays, trainers home time, your break during training etc. These delays can easily double the training time quoted by the recruiter, but you will be paid your trainee rate for all weeks you are OTR,rolling or standing still;company drivers only get paid when the wheels are spinning.Dave75 Thanks this.
